Description: This geodatabase contains mapped locations and summaries of the related observation data from the Arizona Natural Heritage Program's HDMS database and then New Mexico Conservation Information System (NM CIS) housed at Natural Heritage New Mexico. Data were exported from Arizona on 1/25/2019 and New Mexico on 3/5/2019. The Element Occurrence (EO) data are collected and maintained by the Arizona Natural Heritage Program and Natural Heritage New Mexico using a standardized methodology developed by NatureServe and the network of Natural Heritage Programs to provide accurate and current biodiversity and conservation information to public and private agencies and individuals. The primary emphasis is on species and ecological communities that are rare or otherwise imperiled. Uses of the data can include: natural resource management, conservation planning, environmental review, biological and ecological research, land acquisition, and economic development. Through aggregation of the EO data at regional, national, or range-wide scales, these data can be used to examine broad patterns and set priorities in a global context.
